National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Government of India, Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF), Government of India, Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) are jointly organizing a very significant conference on "Safe Transportation of Hazardous, Dangerous Goods through Land, Air, Sea and Pipelines" to be held at Convention Centre, Hotel Pride, Ahmedabad on December 1-2, 2009.

The conference is very significant in the present scenario where vulnerability of hazardous & dangerous chemicals is more pronounced during transportation by all modes like road, air, rail, sea including pipelines specially due to current external threat perceptions. The responsibility of safe transportation and reach to the specified destinations still remains primarily with the establishments like chemical manufacturing units, isolated storages, warehouses, ports, container depots and similar other organizations who are part of enroute temporary destinations. We also observe exponential growth in pipelines for transportation of petroleum, petroleum products and hydrocarbons across the country in a safe manner in spite of very high level of safety & security concern.
